ABOUT CBW/COLORADO:
Almost a thousand Colorado working women (and men) from communities large and small are members of CBW/Colorado. They are "women helping women" achieve professional and personal goals through programs, workshops, networking, and monthly meetings.

OUR MISSION: To promote full participation, equity and economic self-sufficiency for Colorado's working women. Through active participation in the local organization, BPW members can effect change in their communities and in the workplace, and add their voice to the largest national advocacy organization devoted to working women.

OBJECTIVES OF CBW/COLORADO: The objectives of BPW/Colorado include: Elevating the standards of women in business and the professions; promoting the interest of business and professional women; bringing about a spirit of cooperation among the business and professional women of the United States; Extending opportunities to business and professional women through education along the lines of industrial, scientific, and vocational activities.

WHAT WE DO: Meeting on a regular basis, CBW has continuing programs that address the needs of working women, whether she is just starting out, secure in her career, making that dramatic career changes, or planning her retirement.

Young Careerist: Young women on a fast track can polish their presentation, interviewing, and public speaking skills through competition.

Individual Development: This self-confidence building program for women of all ages refines skills in: effective communications; networking; negotiation; interviewing; effective leadership; impacting change at the local level; and working with the media.

Woman of the Year: Honors a business woman of accomplishment in communities all across Colorado. Usually presented during National Business Women's Week in October, CBW is proud of this continuing program.

COLORADO BPW FOUNDATION: The Colorado BPW Foundation benefits women wishing to advance their education through a program of loans, grants, and scholarships. Funds are available to Colorado women pursuing educational opportunities at in-state institutions of higher learning.

MEMBERSHIP: Membership in CBW is open to individuals--women or men--that: support the objectives of CBW/Colorado; are employed, either full-time or part-time or are partners or entrepreneurs in a profit-making enterprise, as well as students enrolled in institutions of higher learning; and pay local organization dues, which include dues for CBW/Colorado.

Dues: Membership dues vary, but range from $75-$100 annually. Membership options include a discounted rate for students and for those wishing to support CBW, but who cannot participate in a local organization, there is a special Colorado Membership-at-Large.

POLITICAL ACTIVITY: CBW has a strong legislative platform that addresses tough issues including: a constitutional equal rights amendment; reform of public assistance programs; reproductive freedom without governmental interference; Social Security and pension plan reform to eliminate discrimination factors; health care cost containment; support of domestic violence protection programs; increased availability of all types of dependent care.

Political awareness continues into CBW support of women in politics, starting with training programs for those interested in running for public office right through funding and supporting campaigns of candidates who align themselves with BPW issues.
