Boulder Business & Professional Women's Organization Grants

Boulder BPW is pleased to announce the kickoff of our 2006 Grant cycle. Organizations are encouraged to download an application from below. Nonprofit organizations whose programs support the BPW mission to promote the full participation, equity, and economic self-sufficiency for working women are encouraged to apply.

The deadline for grant application submittal is June 16, 2006. Grantees will be recognized at the July 20 BPW meeting.

Grants totaling $4,800 were made to the following organizations in 2005:

Project Self-Sufficiency - Self-sufficiency Program
Moving to End Sexual Assault - Prevention Education
YWCA - Career Service and Wise Women Programs

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, LOANS AND GRANTS: BPW offers educational programs, loans and grants through the following programs.

ELNA A. LARSON EDUCATION FUND: The Elna A. Larson Education Fund is Boulder BPW's local education fund. This fund provides financial assistance to Boulder BPW members seeking the necessary education to advance in their careers or re-enter the job market. Applicants need to demonstrate financial need.

Colorado BPW Education Foundation: The Colorado BPW Education Foundation invests in women who are transforming their lives through education . . . for themselves, their families and their communities. Helping to write tomorrow's success stories, the Foundation awards education scholarships to women, mostly single moms, who are doing what it takes to create a better life for themselves and their children. Applicants do not need to be BPW members. Visit the

BPW/USA FOUNDATION: The Business and Professional Women's (BPW) Foundation was established in 1956 by the members of BPW/USA to promote equity for working women nationwide through education, information and research. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the non-profit, non-partisan foundation collects, conducts and analyzes research on issues affecting women in the workplace and provides financial assistance to women seeking the necessary education to advance in their careers or re-enter the job market.

The BPW Foundation has awarded nearly $5 million in educational scholarships, grants and loans to more than 7,000 women nationwide, enabling these recipients to achieve career advancement and greater equity in today's work force. Awards are made in three categories:

Career Advancement Scholarships: Provides assistance to women over 25 whose careers have been delayed, interrupted or redirected through personal, financial or labor force changes. The scholarships cover a variety of professions including computer science, education, paralegal studies, science, business and health.

Educational Loan Program: Provides low-interest loans of between $1,000-$5,000 to women pursuing careers in the high-growth, non-traditional fields of engineering and business management.

Research Fellowship Program: Provides grants to support doctoral research on women's issues such as changing employment patterns; gender, race and class; work and family concerns and research promoting equity for the Latinas.
