Happy 80th Anniversary Boulder Business and Professional Women!
Boulder Business and Professional Women celebrates its 80th anniversary this year! This is no small feat and one that we are rather excited to share. Join us as we celebrate 80 years of history in Boulder County.
Founded in 1931, we are one of the longest running nonpartisan, professional women’s organizations in Boulder County. Our longevity has been accomplished for 80 years through volunteer leadership and management. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we are a group of dedicated, passionate members who strive make Boulder BPW a vibrant part of the Boulder County community. The individuals who volunteer their time as leaders have the opportunity to make an impact on the organization and accomplish goals that they may have reserved for their future careers. Boulder BPW and its Board of Directors offer women, and men, the chance to put our mission - to promote full participation, equity, and economic self-sufficiency for working women - into action.
Our organization is run a by a passionate group of volunteer leaders, without whom the milestone could not have been accomplished. Thank you to those individuals who are currently serving or have served on the Boulder BPW Board of Directors.
I’m often asked why I joined this organization and I would like to take a moment to share my story. I didn’t join to sell a product, myself, or a business. I joined because I wanted to find an organization in which I could grow as an individual and leader. I was attracted to Boulder BPW’s mission, its longevity as an organization, and its goal to build powerful women: professionally, personally, and politically. When I joined, I happily jumped into the deep end with both feet and have since been passionate about my commitment to Boulder BPW. The phenomenal individuals in this organization have been my support system through a layoff, job search, business start-up, first pregnancy, working from home with a baby, a Master’s degree, leadership ups and downs, and so much more. This is the kind of organization that I wanted to join and I’m glad I did!
As a member you will have the opportunity to connect with phenomenal individuals and organizations statewide, participate in community service projects, enjoy fundraising events, contribute to leadership decisions, and make a difference for women: locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. Most notably, we are 80 years young and plan to be around for another 80 years – not many networking organizations can say the same thing! Now IS the time to become a member of Boulder BPW and I hope you will accept my invitation to join.
Congratulations to Boulder Business and Professional Women! Happy 80th Anniversary and wishes for many more to come!
Sincerely,
Megan Shellman
