The Boulder Business and Professional Women (BPW) named Bonni Doherty, Executive Fitness Coach of B Inspired Wellness of Boulder, as 2009 Boulder BPW Young Careerist at its April 16, 2009 meeting held at A Spice of Life Event Center in Boulder. The annual Young Careerist Program highlights and celebrates the achievements of successful young women.

Ida Halasz, President of Halvan Associates, Jerry Lewis formerly publisher/editor of the Boulder County Business Report, and Phyllis Postlewait, Vice President and Financial Planner of Merrill Lynch, served on a panel to judge the Young Careerist competition.

Doherty was among five participants in the Boulder BPW competition. Judging was based on the Young Careerist representative’s career achievements and ability to project an image that reflects the role of today’s young work force in society. Young Careerist Representatives were judged on four phases of competition: written biographical information, personal interview, group interaction, and prepared four-minute speeches. Doherty spoke on the how she will use her experience as the Boulder BPW Young Careerist to help women ‘Prevent and Protect’ their health. Health, ensuring reproductive choice, research into women’s health care needs, and development of a national health care policy that serves the special health care needs of women, is one of the 2008-2009 national BPW legislative issues along with Economic Equity, Civil Rights, and the Equal Rights Amendment. Doherty, who also won a free Boulder BPW membership, will represent Boulder BPW at the BPW/Colorado state convention in Sterling, CO on June 5-6, 2009.

Bonni Doherty, Executive Fitness Coach with B Inspired Wellness, is an expert in the field of fitness and mind-body wellness. Other Young Careerist Representatives who participated in the program were Debra Brown, Co-Founder and COO of Syzygic, LLC; Rachael Skolnik, psychotherapist and small business owner, Embodied Wellness, LLC; and Erin Work-Chou, Events Manager for the Boulder Chamber of Commerce.
